Ecuadorian public high school teachers perceptions on technological resources used by teach in their EFL classrooms during the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract

Abstract: The coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has caused an unprecedented crisis in the field of education, resulting in the closure of educational institutions' face-to-face activities in mostcountries around the world. The aim of this study was to analyze the Ecuadorian Public High School teachers' perceptions on technological resources used by teachers in the EFL classrooms during the COVID-19 pandemic. For this purpose, ten high school teachers from different institutions were participants, most of them female aged from 30 to 60 years old. The research was conducted using a mixed method design that included both qualitative and quantitative data. Based on the results, it is possible to conclude that teachers make use of tools such as Youtube, virtual platforms and Power Point presentations developingpositive perceptionstowards these resources as majority of them considered thattechnology has a positive effectonstudents' learningprocess.However, a few teachers have expressed negative opinions due to the lackof high-speed Internet as obstacles to teach. Finally, this studyrecommends the full cooperation from the school administration to provide continuous training to update teachers' ICT skills.
