Abstract

Abstract: Seeds and their embryos play a fundamental role in the renewal and persistence of plant populations, regeneration of forests and ecological succession. The objective of the present work was to know the morphological diversity of embryos in seeds of plant species of a dry scrub, through photographic records. The study was carried out in the Alamala sector, Catamayo canton -Loja province in the south of Ecuador, where first the seed collection was carried out and later the embryo extraction in the lab of the Particular Technical University of Loja, where it was carried out.The corresponding photographic records. Though the photographs, their morphology was selected,and the size, width and length of embryos were determined, later the best photographs were selected and edited and to see the work of a guide photo of dry scrub embryos. The results of this researchwill contribute to future studies related to the ecology and physiology of seeds of arid zones, and the realization of the photo guide will be an information tool on the diversity of embryos of the dry scrub.
