Aceites esenciales y uso potencial en el control de plagas de granos almacenados

Abstract

Abstract: The present work called "Essential oils and potential use in pest control of stored grains", presents the results of a series of scientific works on the insecticidal effects produced by essential oils in insects that attack corn and beans , when they are stored. Essential oils are extracted from plants and demonstrated its toxicity in insect pest, throught two application routes, such as: contact route and fumigation route. In the contact route the essential is applying directly to the grain or in the insect's back. While the fumigant route, the essential oil is applying in filter paper and hanging on bottle lids, these are hermetically covered for 24h. Another of the tests they carried out was the repellency, they used grains treated and untreated grains, they added insects in the central box and after 24 h they evaluated. These tests showed that some essential oils possess repellent activity, Concluded that essential oils have insecticidal activity for the pest of the corn and bean, through route fumigant and contact,being a good alternative for insect control.
