La vivienda social como una herramienta de representación cultural para el desarrollo sostenible. El caso de Saraguro

Abstract

Abstract: Social housing is one of the welfare indicators of society; however, various projects have been developed that have not provided an adequate response to the growing qualitative and quantitative housing deficit, by not adapting to the environment, nor responding to the cultural qualities that the indigenous peoples of our region entail. This research studies social housing as a tool for cultural representation in Saraguro, with the aim of formulating an architectural urban project that favors the sustainable development of the city while respecting and valuing its cultural wealth. The methodology addresses a qualitative research approach that seeks to understand and study the problem in a comprehensive way, through three phases: exploratory, interpretive and propositional; by applying technical sheets and semi-structured interviews and by studying the territory through layers, information is obtained and analyzed that allows the author to understand the community, its culture and the site. Thus, the proposal solves the housing need including public spaces, mix of uses, landscape, nature, social and cultural particularities from the Saraguro community, reinterpreting the way of projecting social housing from the cultural perspective.
