Estudio de las narrativas de las obras audiovisuales top que clasifica para Ecuador la plataforma de Netflix

Abstract

Abstract: The present research called, the Study of the narratives of the top audiovisual works that classifies for Ecuador the Netflix platform, has as general objective; to understand how the business model of the Netflix streaming platform works, in order to identify the parameters that attract audiences (Top 10); for this, throughout this study certain topics such as the Netflix algorithm works, the narrative line of the top works that classifies Netflix for Ecuador through four indicators are raised: genres, script, characters, theme and plot; which allowed to understand and know which are the most common genres and aspects of hybridization in the audiovisual works selected for the study. The qualitative methodology proper to case studies was used for its application, a bibliographic and documentary review was carried out on the contents and news that address the subject of Netflix, as well as research articles to understand how the platform and the algorithm work and in turn determine the study sample. According to the results obtained, it could be evidenced that streaming technology has an important role in the film market, as it threatens the extinction of the traditional transmitters of the seventh art, such as movie theaters, auto cinemas, theaters, among others; it was also concluded that the implementation of predictive algorithms in the film market prevents a possible failure of the same also allows to know in a more analytical way the reason why the audience prefers certain genres and themes, these parameters tend to be reflected in the social context.
