Ecuadorian public high school teachers perceptions on technological resources used by teachers in their EFL classrooms during the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract

Abstract: This research is about Ecuadorian public high school teachers ́ perceptions on the technological resources used in the EFL classroom during the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of this study is to analyze the technological resources used by teachers in their EFL classrooms. This research took place in Quito city in an urban area. As a sample, ten EFL teachers were selected, seven females and three males. Besides, the mixed method approach that combines qualitative and quantitative methods was applied. Qualitative research was used for the narrative analysis, and the quantitative method was used to gather and describe the data obtained. The techniques used in the present research were the following: one teachers survey and two interviews. Additionally, questionnaires were the main instruments applied in this study. The findings of this study revealed that teachers of English as a foreign language in public secondary schools have skills and knowledge to interact with students, in turn it was observed that they create communities of knowledge, contribute to the formulation of academic programs and organize these communities based on information and communication technologies ICT.
