Abstract

Abstract:Currently, the Internet is a basic, elementary service and a fundamental right for every human being. However, in Ecuador there are places such as rural areas or close to cities without Internet connection due to the telecommunications infrastructure and the low income of its inhabitants. To mitigate this problem, this work proposes to implement a low-cost telecommunications infrastructure to provide Internet to rural areas and the application of a sustainable business model in the parish of San Pablo de Tenta, in the canton and province of Loja. From the experience acquired, it is concluded that the support and collaboration of government entities and residents can make it viable to provide Internet access in rural areas.
