Modelo de Gobernanza para la consolidación del Sistema y Subsistema de Áreas Protegidas y de Conservación de la Provincia de Morona Santiago

Abstract

Abstract: The diversity of ecosystems of Morona Santiago and the conservation figures that have been implemented on them, have generated divergences between actors; many are in favor of the conservation of these spaces, while others seek to satisfy their needs through the expansion of the agricultural frontier, arguing that the benefits are scarce; This dynamic calls for an analysis of the governance model of the protected and conservation areas of Morona Santiago.The investigation is structured in three moments; the first deals with protected and conservation areas, adapting the methodology of the Regional Diagnosis and Comparative Analysis -Governance of the National Systems of Protected Areas in the Tropical Andes, which included analyzing legal, administrative and management aspects of these conservation figures; in the second moment, an analysis of governance was carried out, applying the IUCN principles for good governance in protected and conservation areas; being these: legitimacy and voice, direction, performance, responsibility and accountability, and finally justice and rights; and finally the discussion of results.
