Descifrando el camino al éxito financiero: Factores que moldean la elección de carrera en Finanzas en la provincia de Cotopaxi, Cantón Latacunga, año 2024

Abstract

Abstract: Making a decision is an act that transcends into the responsibility of bearing all its consequences. The objective of this research was to determine the factors that shape the choice of the Finance and Banking Career among third-year high school students in the Latacunga canton, located in the province of Cotopaxi. The methodology used was descriptive, non-experimental, and cross-sectional, employing a semi-structured interview composed of five constructs: interests and preferences, family interests, perception of the Finance career, educational factors, and vocations. This was applied to a sample of 352 students, classified into 181 males and 171 females. The results show that students in the sector have a strong affinity for continuing with family traditions, with 9.14% of women and 10.29% of men indicating this preference, while a 21.43% expressed a tendency toward the Finance career. It is concluded that the population in this sector experiences uncertainty in choosing a professional profile, which is influenced by a lack of opportunities and limited access to education.
