Análisis del potencial interpretativo del Refugio de Vida Silvestre Pasochoa

Abstract

Abstract: This paper analyzes the interpretive potential of the Pasochoa Wildlife Refuge by assessing its current status in terms of environmental interpretation and developing an interpretive itinerary to facilitate understanding of the environment of this protected area. A total of 170 visitor surveys were conducted, along with interviews with four administrators and ten relevant stakeholders from the Curiquingue and San Pedro neighborhoods of Pilopata. The results showed that current interpretive activities focus on flora and fauna. However, it is recommended to incorporate activities related to the history, customs, and legends of Pasochoa and its surroundings, given the preferences of tourists. The Interpretive Potential Index (IPI) analysis showed that resources related to flora, fauna, history, festivals, and customs averaged 0.735, indicating high interpretive potential. Therefore, the itinerary consists of a tour of the refuge's trails, displaying various information and activities related to addressing the need for environmental interpretation.
