Abstract

Abstract: This paper focused on reviewing Sustainable Development Goal 10, with an emphasis on protected rights, and Constitutional Court Ruling No. 072-17-SEPCC, in Case No. 1587-15-EP. The overall objective of this paper was to understand the factors that influence UTPL Law Graduates to develop preferences for specific areas of legal science and their future specialization in these areas. The analysis ranged from doctrinal contributions to the development of jurisprudence by the Constitutional Court and other international bodies, highlighting the general concepts of the rights protected by this SDG, particularly those related to non-discrimination and equal opportunities. A systematic method was used to organize the information, providing a socio-legal approach due to the connection between law and social phenomena. Furthermore, the analytical-synthetic method was used, which allowed for the identification of important points in jurisprudence and doctrine, facilitating the connection with SDG No. 10. Through the analysis, it was determined that, although the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador (2008) enshrines rights that must not be violated, it is crucial that sub-constitutional instruments and public policies be aligned with the constitutional norm to avoid any type of violation, especially for priority groups.
