Abstract

Abstract: The research, entitled "Academic Preferences of Law Students and Their Connection to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the Study of Judgments," examines how academic inclinations in Criminal Law relate to SDG 5, which seeks gender equality. Through the analysis of Judgment No. 0001-17-SIO-CC of the Constitutional Court of Ecuador, this thesis not only highlights the relevance of Criminal Law in protecting the rights of victims of gender-based violence, but also contributes to promoting knowledge of equitable justice and raising awareness in the legal community about the importance of a sustainable approach to justice in matters of gender equality. This research, based on a qualitative-descriptive methodology, proposes a transformative vision of criminal law, not only as a sanctioning mechanism, but also as a tool for advancing human rights and sustainable development. In an educational context, this approach suggests the need for legal education committed to social justice and SDG 5, showing how academic preferences can align with the global goals of equity and human rights protection.
