Abstract

Abstract: Currently, it is necessary for people to have a command of speaking in English to interact academically, culturally and professionally. This requires a series of competencies. From this approach, the need arises to carry out this research with the aim of strengthening the use of ChatGPT as a virtual tutor for the development of autonomous oral expression of the English language in higher education students at the A2 level. Through a mixed approach, pre-experimental design, with a population of 63 students and 8 teachers, from the Instituto Superior Universitario Central Técnico. The techniques and instruments were the survey and the interview. The main findings showed that teachers and students were not convinced of the use of the GPT Chat to improve in the area of English, that the experience of using applications as a virtual tutor was not common, nor were they aware of the options offered by the tool. The conclusions show the importance of artificial intelligence for the teaching of this language, surpassing existing perceptions. Dialogues were structured with Prompts. The impact of the tool is demonstrated.
