Abstract

Abstract: This work addresses the relationship between SDG 16, which seeks to strengthen justice institutions and guarantee equitable access to it, and the ruling Sentence No. 134-13-EP/20 of the Constitutional Court of Ecuador, which protects the right of the Kichwa Cokiuve community to apply their customary law, in accordance with the Ecuadorian Constitution, establishing a precedent on the decline of competition between ordinary justice and indigenous justice, this study highlights how the judicial decision contributes to the promotion of cultural diversity , strengthening the justice system, and respect for the collective rights of indigenous communities, consolidating the importance of inclusive and participatory justice.
