Abstract

Abstract: This study addresses the design, study and implementation of a Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) to improve connectivity in rural areas through radio links. The project addresses an analysis of wireless technologies, architectures and covers technical and economic feasibility. All this is supported through field tests and simulations that allowed to estimate and validate the performance of the links, to guarantee a stable connection. Likewise, a sustainable business model was proposed, aligned with current regulations, that allows the expansion of the service. As a result, this work constitutes a reference for future implementations of rural ISPs, contributing to the reduction of the digital divide and the socioeconomic development of isolated communities.
