Análisis del perfil vocacional de estudiantes de bachillerato para carreras de STEAM Conocoto y San pedro

Abstract

Abstract: This study investigated the factors that influence the choice of STEAM careers among high school students from three private schools: Borja Monserrat, Tecnológico Pichincha, and Santo Tomás de Aquino in the Conocoto and San Pedro regions (Pichincha, Ecuador). Using a quantitative approach, 293 surveys were administered, the data of which were analyzed using computational tools (Deepnote and Python) and statistical methods. The results identified three determining factors: a positive perception of science and technology, family support, and the motivating role of teachers. Furthermore, it was evident that many students have limited knowledge of these disciplines. The study concludes that it is essential to strengthen career guidance in early educational stages, with strategies that clarify the scope of STEAM careers and their social impact. These findings provide evidence for the design of educational policies and academic motivation projects in the Ecuadorian context.
