Reutilización adaptativa: propuesta arquitectónica de biblioteca para el barrio Motupe de la ciudad de Loja, Ecuador

Abstract

Abstract: This research addresses adaptive reuse as a strategy for the recovery of spaces and to give them a new use, focusing on the architectural proposal of a library for the Motupe neighborhood located in Loja, Ecuador. It starts with a diagnosis of the site, identifying the need for cultural infrastructure to help promote education, access to information and social integration. The methodology used combines a documentary analysis, case studies and a field survey in order to evaluate the feasibility of intervening an existing building and converting it into a more functional space that is accessible and sustainable for the community. The proposal is based on the conservation of the existing building, which through the incorporation of various criteria will allow us to achieve greater spatial flexibility. With the purpose of revitalizing the environment and reinforcing the identity of the sector. As a result, adaptive reuse is a viable option to optimize resources, minimize environmental and economic impact, and promote social development.
