Abstract

Abstract: This research project, titled Project Puzzle , provides an in-depth analysis of the crucial role that judicial reasoning plays in court rulings, with particular emphasis on transparency and legitimacy within the judicial system. Judicial reasoning refers to the clear, detailed, and coherent explanation of the grounds on which a decision is based whether in favor of or against a party. Its significance lies in its role as a cornerstone for ensuring due process and safeguarding the human rights of Ecuadorian citizens. Proper reasoning in judicial decisions not only requires sound legal argumentation but must also follow a well-structured format to prevent arbitrary rulings and to strengthen public trust in the judiciary. Clear and comprehensible reasoning helps citizens understand the foundation of judicial outcomes. To provide a more concrete focus, this study examines Constitutional Protection Action No. 11282-2020-00094, concerning access to healthcare. Throughout the research, it is demonstrated how the judge in this case properly assessed the evidence and justified the ruling with solid legal reasoning. The clarity and coherence of the argumentation were key to understanding the rationale behind the decision. Nonetheless, the study identifies certain legal gaps that require attention and improvement in order to enhance the clarity and structure of judicial arguments. Addressing these issues is essential for promoting a justice system that is both reliable and accessible, and that truly guarantees the protection of all Ecuadorians.
