Abstract

Abstract: This curricular integration (ICT) project focuses on creating a public policy proposal to improve transportation management in the Piñas canton, located in the province of El Oro. The main problem lies in the lack of a comprehensive strategy that meets the needs of commercial, institutional, public and private transport. Currently, Piñas faces significant challenges in terms of both urban and rural mobility, which negatively impacts the quality of life of its inhabitants, the efficiency of freight transport and the environmental sustainability of the canton. Transportation planning in Piñas has deficiencies in that it does not comprehensively consider all the modes of transportation and sectors involved. This has led to road congestion, inefficiencies in public transport and conflicts between different types of users, such as pedestrians, cyclists and drivers. In addition, the lack of adequate infrastructure and policies that promote the use of clean technologies aggravates mobility problems and contributes to environmental deterioration. A public transportation policy is required to be able to plan, communicate and adequately meet the mobility needs in Pinas. A good policy will allow mobility to maximum levels, improve the quality of life for people living in the city and facilitate the economic growth of the canton. It is expected that the project will also incorporate sustainable and innovative practices as well as the respective advertising through social networks so that they comply with the Sustainable Development Goals to prevent the ecological footprint and the inefficient use of resources. The project will have an impact beyond Piñas if successful, as it can be replicated in other cantons facing similar challenges. This document will be key to the preparation of effective strategies that contribute to a safe, efficient and sustainable transport system for the canton of Piñas.
