Abstract

Abstract: This study in the Colimes canton aims to determine the medicinal species and evaluate the existing consensus on the use and species with respect to the sociocultural characteristics of the informants from the markets, free fairs and healers. A semi-structured interview was used with 13 informants, for each species its method of preparation, use, dose and means of administration were obtained. The ethnobotanical analysis of FIC and FL, the statistical analyzes of ANOVA and T-Test were developed with the Past program. Results from 20 families were shown in 25 commercialized species such as Thunbergia alata Bojer ex Sims (Espanto) and Glycyrrhiza glabra L. (Zaragoza) from 33.3 to 50.0% as the most representative due to the high citation of the informants who affirm its use in treatments for body pain, stomach colic, sore throats and fright. It is concluded by the FIC high consensus in the species stating that the uses and knowledge of the medicinal herbal shops of the Colimes canton are sociocultural characteristics, the primary educational level of 53, 85% of merchants highlights that the contributions are clearly ancestral.
