Abstract

Abstract: This degree work aims to understand the academic preferences of law students by studying the origin and importance of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with emphasis on SDG No. 16. It analyzes their relationship with Constitutional Law as a legal science, using the technique of fichaje, and examines Ruling No. 1284-18-EP/23 of the Constitutional Court of Ecuador, which recognized the violation of the principle of formal equality. The findings show that the rights to legal security, effective judicial protection and access to quality justice are directly linked to the principles of formal and material equality. This shows that the fulfillment of Sustainable Development Goals 16 requires guaranteeing equal treatment before the law. The research not only reveals the areas of interest of future lawyers, but also seeks to raise awareness about the need to apply the Sustainable Development Goals in professional practice, promoting a fairer, more inclusive legal defense committed to democratic values and sustainable development.
