Abstract: Abstract: Diabetes mellitus, a chronic disease of increasing global prevalence, requires effective self management to improve quality of life and reduce complications. This study examines self management in patients with diabetes mellitus treated in the outpatient clinic of the Julia Ester González Delgado Municipal Hospital Clinic. The main objective was to describe self management in people with diabetes mellitus treated in the outpatient clinic of the Julia Esther Gonzáles Delgado municipal hospital clinic. A descriptive quantitative study was implemented with 30 participants, using the "Partners in Health" questionnaire to evaluate self-management in knowledge, adherence to treatment, and management of signs and symptoms. The findings revealed a high level of self-management in 76,7% of participants, with 83,3% showing high adherence to treatment and 73,3% exhibiting a high level of management of signs and symptoms. However, only 50,0% demonstrated a high level of knowledge about their condition. It is concluded that, despite the high general level of self-management, there is room for improvement, particularly in the area of knowledge about diabetes.
