Abstract

Abstract: This thesis develops the process of data mining applied to the use of technology among university students. It aims to explore data on the use of technology in academic and entertainment activities by identifying behavior patterns and technology usage profiles to determine how it influences learning. Using the CRISP-DM methodology, information was collected through surveys of 610 students at the Amazonian State University in the Lago Agrio Canton, Sucumbíos Province. This information was digitized in Google Forms and the data was obtained in Excel. Business understanding and data cleaning were performed using scripts developed in R using R Studio. Appropriate techniques were used: factor analysis was used to reduce quantitative variables, and cluster analysis was applied to group individuals. Chi-square and linear regression were used to determine whether the categorical variables were related and to find the relationship between dependent and independent variables. Finally, the results obtained were interpreted and documented.
