Abstract

Abstract: The present research explores the academic preferences of law students, linking them to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16 through the analysis of a judicial sentence. Using a theoretical-deductive and socio-legal methodology, this study includes an in-depth examination of relevant judgments, such as Case No. 115-21-EP/23 issued by the Constitutional Court. This judgment highlights the importance of guaranteeing access to justice and the protection of human rights, emphasizing the responsibility of institutions in strengthening the rule of law. It also refers to the optimal activity of the judiciary in the face of social justice and equity, determining how the proper application of the law is essential to achieve the SDGs in accordance with the fundamental ideals of a lawyer's profession. This research seeks to frame the need to implement the SDGs in the academic training of future lawyers and giving it the importance that sustainable development and social justice need in the Ecuadorian legal framework. That is why, with the integration of the SDGs, they will be prepared to face the legal challenges and contribute to the contribution of a more just and equitable society for citizens.
