Análisis del Índice del I+D+I Empresarial y sus efectos en el empleo en Ecuador.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to conduct a quantitative analysis of the impact of business investment, development, and innovation (R&D&I) on the level of employability in Ecuador for private companies. First, a theoretical and empirical review was conducted, including scientific articles, previous research, and economics subjects. Then, secondary information was obtained, which applying a quantitative methodology, consisting of an econometric analysis with data from the Business Structural Survey corresponding to the years 2016 and 2020 obtained from the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC). Two econometric regressions were performed using the Ordinary Least Squares method for both years, with the aim of analysing the effects of innovation (R&D&I) on private employment. The results show a positive relationship between the level of employability and the variable referring to investment in tangible assets, while the variable corresponding to innovation does not have a significant effect on employment levels. These results demonstrate that in private companies, the acquisition of machinery and equipment generates positive effects on employment compared to innovative products.
