Abstract: This thesis aimed to identify the factors that influence graduates of the Law Program at Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL) in developing preferences for specific areas of legal science, as well as their future specialization plans. Through a qualitative and quantitative methodology, relevant information was gathered and analyzed regarding the professional interests of graduates, highlighting the influence of academic training, practical experience, and labor market expectations. In fulfillment of the first specific objective, the competencies acquired by students in their preferred subjects were evaluated, revealing that these not only enhance their professional abilities but also contribute to solving global legal issues particularly those related to human rights, environmental protection, and social justice. With regard to the second specific objective, the study provided clear projections about the legal areas in which graduates plan to practice, showing a strong interest in Criminal, Constitutional, Administrative, and Labor Law, both in the public and private sectors. These preferences are driven by perceived social impact, job stability, and professional growth opportunities. Finally, in relation to the third specific objective, the study promoted reflection on the social responsibility of future lawyers through the analysis of specific cases connected to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). The findings reveal an increasing awareness among graduates of their role in driving social transformation and promoting more equitable and inclusive justice, this research not only made it possible to understand the academic and professional motivations of law graduates, but also to propose strategies to strengthen their comprehensive education and ethical commitment to society.es_ES
