Abstract

Abstract: This research focuses on analyzing human rights violations in Ecuador, specifically those linked to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. Emphasis will be placed on sections 16.4, 16.5, and 16.a, considered crucial for the current government given the perceived lack of transparency, equity, and equality that should characterize a democratic state. The study seeks to demonstrate that an effective administration of justice is fundamental to building a strong Ecuador with solid institutions, and that this, in turn, will foster an environment of tranquility, peace, and social harmony. It is argued that this stability is an essential pillar for boosting the national economy, generating new employment opportunities, and contributing to the recovery of families still facing economic hardship, especially after the persistent challenges stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, even three years after its onset. To carry out this comprehensive analysis of SDG No. 16, a key ruling issued by the Constitutional Court will be examined, allowing for a technical and in-depth approach to the issue.
