Estigmatización social en la reinserción de ex convictos

Abstract

Abstract: The research project Social Stigmatization in the Reintegration of Ex-Convicts analyzes, from a psychosocial perspective, how stigma from society limits the opportunities of those who have served a sentence, affecting their access to employment, education, health, and family life. Through interviews, focus groups, and observation, the perceptions and experiences of ex-convicts are identified, as well as the factors that hinder their reintegration and the strategies they employ to confront discrimination. The study shows that stigmatization perpetuates cycles of exclusion and increases the risk of recidivism, which demands more humane and effective public policies, institutional and community support programs, and a cultural change that promotes restorative justice. The main contribution lies in making visible the emotional and social consequences of stigma, questioning the structures that sustain it and proposing alternatives to strengthen labor, social and family reintegration, contributing to respect for human rights and the construction of a more inclusive society.
