Percepción y opinión de los ecuatorianos sobre realidad socio ambiental nacional: análisis del cantón Saraguro, provincia de Loja

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to learn about the socio-environmental reality of the Saraguro canton, considering the perception and opinion of the inhabitants of this canton, on issues such as: environment, water, markets, quality of life in the city, citizen participation and equity. This study has a descriptive quantitative approach with a non-experimental design, data were collected through the application of 200 surveys in both urban and rural areas. The results obtained show a concern for the loss of natural resources, water contamination and climate change. There is also a negative perception regarding knowledge of the Water Law, while it is indicated that water quality has remained the same over the last 10 years. Regarding markets, it is observed that the population prefers more organic and sustainable products, paying up to 5% more than the normal price. The quality of life has improved, however, there is still work to be done in public services such as health, education and employment. In terms of gender equity, there has been an improvement, but gender equality must continue to be strengthened.
