Abstract

Abstract:The objective of this research was to determine whether the cassation ruling in Case 562-2015 was duly justified in accordance with Ecuadorian constitutional regulations and international human and indigenous rights regulations, and to establish whether it contributed to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. The results of the analysis of the ruling within the framework of the Constitution, international human rights treaties, and the Sustainable Development Goals included in the 2030 Agenda showed that it was duly justified. Likewise, it was evident that the ruling contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 16 by fulfilling the targets of significantly reducing all forms of violence, promoting the rule of law and ensuring equal access to justice for all, strengthening national institutions to build capacity to prevent violence, and implementing non-discriminatory laws in favor of sustainable development.
