Abstract

Abstract: The study addresses teaching practices in language and literature and their contribution to linking schools with the social environment of students in basic general education. The objective is to analyze the teaching practices of language and literature teachers and their contribution to linking schools with the social environment of students in basic general education. The research is conducted using a qualitative and interpretive approach, with a purposive sample consisting of students, teachers, and an educational administrator. Semi-structured interviews and documentary analysis of micro-curricular plans are used for data collection. The main findings indicate that student-centered practices based on active and participatory methodologies strengthen communication skills, motivation, and critical thinking, as well as the link with the social environment through contextualized projects. However, this connection was only partially and unevenly evident, conditioned by limitations of time, resources, and institutional guidelines, confirming the need to strengthen pedagogical guidelines that ensure contextualized, participatory, and socially relevant teaching.
