Abstract: The implementation of sustainable livestock practices in the Loja Basin faces significant challenges, such as limited access to technology, a lack of technical training, and resistance to change from some producers. However, it also offers important opportunities to promote economic development, environmental conservation, and social well-being. This approach seeks to optimize livestock production through the efficient management of natural resources, the adoption of agroecological systems, and the reduction of negative impacts on local ecosystems. Furthermore, it encourages the use of renewable energy, crop diversification, and the reforestation of degraded areas, contributing to climate change mitigation. Community participation, public policy support, and the generation of financial incentives are key factors for the success of these initiatives. In this context, it is essential to strengthen education and awareness among producers to ensure an effective transition to more sustainable and resilient livestock systems.
