Abstract

Abstract: This paper presents the socioeconomic description of the Latacunga canton, part of the Cotopaxi province in Ecuador, during the period 2010-2022. This document analyzes the main indicators that allow for an assessment of the population's well-being, such as employment, income, access to basic services, education, and productive structure. Using official data such as the INEC (National Institute of Statistics and Census), ECLAC (Central African Economic Commission), and other secondary sources, it will also identify the performance of the primary, secondary, and tertiary economic sectors, as well as the factors that have influenced the canton's structural changes. The study also points out how migration flows, urban growth, territorial inequalities, and public policies play a big role in grasping local development dynamics. From this, we'll get conclusions to beef up planning strategies that push for more even and lasting economic and social progress in Latacunga. This breakdown can act as a real guide for decisions at the local and regional levels, something we've needed around here with spots like Quito dealing with lopsided sprawl.
