Criminología del femicidio en Ecuador: aproximación doctrinal, contextualización del fenómeno y propuesta de prevención

Abstract

Abstract: The study focuses on the phenomenon of femicide in Ecuador from a criminological perspective, employing an analysis with a strong emphasis on victimology. In addition to characterizing the crime, it examines the profiles of both the victim and the perpetrator. The presentation of official information allows for an understanding of this tragic phenomenon, which stems from a structural problem linked to social and cultural patterns that operate despite existing regulations. The study also explores criminological contributions from critical and feminist approaches to understand the extreme form of gender-based violence perpetrated through femicide. Furthermore, it outlines the criminological prevention strategy that should be used to strengthen the various levels of prevention, focusing on institutional strengthening to ensure effective early and timely prevention and avoid recidivism.
