| Abstract: | Abstract: The research conducted focused on the academic preferences of Law students and their relationship with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the analysis of court rulings. The study was carried out in the city of Guayaquil and used as a case Hidalgo and Others vs. Ecuador, corresponding to Judgment Series C No. 534 of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR). Using a qualitative approach, documentary analysis and a content sheet were employed to identify the most relevant legal elements. The study of the judgment and the accumulated case files showed its connection to SDG 16, which centers on promoting peace, justice, and strong institutions. Fundamental rights protected by this goal were identified, such as the right to life, personal integrity, and the prohibition of torture. Additionally, the responsibility of the Ecuadorian State for the violations committed against Mr. Hidalgo was confirmed. The results highlight the need to strengthen legal education aimed at the protection of human right. |
| Description: | Resumen:La investigación realizada fue las preferencias académicas de los estudiantes de Derecho y su relación con los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) mediante el análisis de sentencias. El estudio se realizó en la ciudad de Guayaquil y tomó como caso Hidalgo y otros vs. Ecuador, correspondiente a la Sentencia Serie C No. 534 de la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos (CIDH). Con un enfoque cualitativo, se empleó el análisis documental y una ficha de contenido para identificar los elementos jurídicos más relevantes. El estudio de la sentencia y de los expedientes acumulados mostró su vinculación con el ODS 16, centrado en promover paz, justicia e instituciones sólidas. Se identificaron los derechos fundamentales protegidos por este objetivo, como el derecho a la vida, la integridad personal y la prohibición de la tortura. Además, se confirmó la responsabilidad del Estado ecuatoriano en las vulneraciones cometidas contra el señor Hidalgo. Los resultados subrayan la necesidad de fortalecer la formación jurídica orientada a la protección de los derechos humanos. |
