Relación entre la funcionalidad familiar percibida y el autoconcepto en adolescentes de básica superior de la ciudad de Loja

Abstract

Abstract: The present study investigates the relationship between perceived family functionality and self-concept in adolescents of higher elementary school in the city of Loja, its objective was to determine how perceived family functionality affects the construction of self-concept of adolescents, for this purpose a non-experimental, cross-sectional and correlational design was implemented, the following instruments were applied: Ad Hoc Sociodemographic Card, Family APGAR Questionnaire and Self-Concept Scale Form 5 (AF5).A sample of 60 students of ninth and tenth grade of high school, selected by non-probability sampling, was used. The results showed that most of the adolescents perceived a normal family functioning and an average self-concept; however, the correlation between both variables was negative and not statistically significant. The conclusions and recommendations emphasize the importance of psychoeducational interventions aimed at strengthening family cohesion and communication, promoting a favorable environment for the integral development of adolescents, as well as the possibility of conducting longitudinal studies with larger samples to study in depth the factors that influence adolescents' self-concept.
