Abstract: Due to its effects on the mental health and productivity of nursing staff, burnout syndrome is a subject of increasing research. In the post-COVID-19 context, this study aimed to characterize the currently available scientific evidence on this syndrome in nursing staff. Following the PRISMA 2020 principles, a descriptive literature review was conducted, encompassing articles published between 2022 and 2026, using a bibliographic search in the Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed databases. The findings demonstrated that, with varying degrees of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment, the frequency of burnout syndrome among nursing staff remains high in the post-pandemic era. Workload, long working hours, lack of resources, insufficient organizational support, and sociodemographic characteristics were significant contributing factors. The study highlights the need for institutional initiatives for the prevention, early detection, and promotion of the psychological well-being of nursing staff, given that burnout continues to be a major problem for healthcare systems.es_ES
