| Abstract: | Abstract: Color is a crucial element in audiovisual storytelling. The objective of this study was to examine the role of color as a narrative tool in Blade Runner 2049, with the aim of identifying the predominant colors and evaluating their emotional and aesthetic impact on the viewer. The methodology was qualitative, based on a chromatic analysis of ten key scenes and interviews. The results revealed that dominant colors such as grays, blues, and white were associated with coldness, isolation, and dehumanization, while orange and yellow evoked pollution and abandonment. Warm colors, on the other hand, conveyed intimacy and hope. Chromatic contrasts were recognized as devices for directing attention toward specific characters or objects. Participants agreed that the use of color makes the film more immersive and consistent with its dystopian setting, stating that the scenes would lose their impact without it. Even those unfamiliar with the film were able to identify essential plot elements. The study concludes that color in Blade Runner 2049 serves fundamental aesthetic, emotional, and narrative functions. |
