| Abstract: | Abstract: This thesis, titled "Academic Preferences of Law Students and Their Link to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Through the Study of Court Rulings," is grounded in the UTPL's academic project. Its primary objective is to explore the 17 SDGs established in the UN's 2030 Agenda, which seek to foster just, peaceful, and sustainable societies. In this context, the study examines the relationship between criminal law and SDG 16, which promotes peace and justice globally. Specifically, it analyzes Ruling No. 2023-20-EP/22 issued in response to an Extraordinary Action for Protection in which the Constitutional Court found a violation of the right to due process linked to the lack of access to a criminal appeal in cassation. This violation stemmed from an inadmissibility order issued by the National Court of Justice based on flawed reasoning a decision subsequently declared unconstitutional. As a remedial measure, the Constitutional Court ordered the annulment of the order and the resumption of proceedings with a newly constituted Criminal Chamber, thereby ensuring compliance with the Constitution and relevant laws. |
