Estimación del valor de provisión de productos forestales no maderables para el mercado: revisión metodológica

Abstract

Abstract: There is to do emphasis that the study analyzes the methods used for the estimation of the value of provision of non-timber forest products (NTFP), a crucial source of income for many rural communities in Ecuador and other regions of the world, through a methodological review of various researches, identified and compared approaches such as the market prices, contingent valuation, and avoided costs, highlighting its advantages and limitations, therefore the work brings to light the need to adapt these methodologies to the local context, thus considering biodiversity and social dynamics of the communities, besides, it highlights the impact of climate change in the availability of these products and the lack of a formal valuation system, because it concludes that, to improve the management and conservation of NTFP, it is fundamental to implement adequate public policies, promote environmental education, and strengthen the collection of precise data.
