Abstract: Abstract: This research analyzes the judicial reasoning behind the judgment issued in case No. 11317-2025-XXXXX by the Multicompetent Judicial Unit of Puyango Canton, within the context of custody proceedings. Employing a qualitative, documentary, and legal-argumentative approach, the "EL SER" method was applied to reconstruct the legal issue, the normative and factual premises, the *ratio decidendi*, and the final decision. Additionally, questionnaires regarding sufficient and correct reasoning were utilized. The analysis reveals identifiable grounds for the decision, indicating that there is no absolute absence of reasoning. However, the ruling fails to explain concretely how the "best interests of the child" principle was applied or how the child's opinion was taken into account. This omission reveals an insufficiency in the factual reasoning and indicates an inconsistency with legal standards. The assessment is limited to the text of the judgment itself and does not rule out the possibility that such actions may have occurred within the case file.
