Abstract: Abstract: This thesis addresses the importance of the reasoning provided in judgments issued by trial-level judges in Ecuador, considering its fundamental role in upholding due process, ensuring judicial transparency, and guaranteeing the rights of the parties involved. It begins with a theoretical analysis of judicial reasoning as an essential element of any court ruling, framing it within the context of the Ecuadorian Constitution, international human rights instruments, and the Organic Code of the Judicial Function. Through a study of selected cases from trial courts, recurring shortcomings are identified, such as a lack of argumentative clarity, the mechanical copying of legal provisions, and the absence of critical analysis regarding the facts and evidence. These errors compromise not only the validity of judicial rulings but also public confidence in the administration of justice. Finally, the research proposes measures to improve the quality of judicial reasoning, such as continuous training for justice officials, the implementation of jurisprudential guidelines, and the strengthening of constitutional oversight. It concludes that a properly reasoned judgment is indispensable for ensuring decisions that are fair, effective, and respectful of fundamental rights.
