Abstract: Abstract: This thesis, titled "Reasoning in Judgments Issued by First-Instance Judges in Ecuador," focuses on Judgment No. 23201-2018-01706, a case study aimed at evaluating the quality of judicial rulings. The analysis conducted in this work confirms that the judgment exemplifies sufficient and reinforced reasoning by meeting constitutional requirements; it establishes a logical link between the facts and the law, as the judge grounds the divorce not only on the grounds of domestic violence and the defendant's acquiescence but also by elevating the standard within the constitutional framework. By invoking human rights treaties such as the Convention of Belém do Pará and applying a gender perspective, the ruling becomes legally sound and aligns with the State's obligation to protect women from violence. The study validates the judgment for its transparency and for being free from defects such as apparent inconsistency or irrelevance.
