Abstract: Abstract: This thesis proposes the artistic appropriation of Remedios Varo s works as an approach to a contemporary surrealist pictorial proposal. The objective was to create three oil appropriations that integrate elements of surrealism. To this historical and reference was analyzed, identifying symbols, techniques, and themes linked to magic, alchemy, and mysticism, and new lines of analysis were proposed. Methodologically, the research adopted a qualitative, visual, and practical approach. Three of Varo s (La llamada, Woman Leaving the Psychoanalyst, Rupture) were selected as references for the creation of the new works to identify recurrent elements, especially female figures in transformation. The findings guided the sketches, color experimentation, and pictorial construction of the final pieces. As result, three paintings were produced Seeking the Light, Flight, and Woman in Healing which preserve the symbolic structure and mystical tone of the reference while incorporating elements that update the surrealist discourse. The project demonstrates that artistic appropriation is a legitimate tool for learning and creation in the training of the visual artis.
