Abstract: Abstract:This research explores the relationship between organic materiality and involuntary memory through the creation of a biomaterial derived from orange peels, which was then applied in a multisensory art installation. The study originated from an unexpected bodily experience: the scent of the peels triggered vivid childhood memories, prompting an inquiry into how a piece of household waste can retain such evocative power. By testing four production formulas, six distinct textures were developed all of which preserve the aroma, color, and tactile qualities of the orange. The installation, titled "Echoes of the Orange s Time" (*Ecos del tiempo de la Naranja*), was exhibited at the Sala Ángel Rubén Garrido within the Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana; the project included guided engagement, workshops, and surveys of the audience. The findings confirmed that the biomaterial triggers involuntary memories in viewers, particularly those linked to childhood and family experiences. The research concludes that household waste can serve as a legitimate, sustainable artistic medium capable of activating memory through the body thereby validating the potential of bioart as a research-creation practice within contemporary art.
