Abstract: Abstract: The research titled "Reasoning in Judgments Issued by First-Instance Judges in Ecuador" aims to analyze and evaluate the adequacy and correctness of the legal reasoning found in first-instance judicial rulings within the Ecuadorian context. The study was conducted in the city of Machala, specifically through an analysis of the judgment corresponding to case number 07205-2019-XXXXX. The sample consists of a single first-instance judgment, selected based on specific inclusion criteria. An analytical method was employed to break down the ruling into its fundamental components, utilizing techniques such as argument mapping, the application of questionnaires regarding standards of sufficiency and correct reasoning, and consultation of the SATJE system. The research concludes by determining whether the analyzed judgment meets the standards required to guarantee due process and sound legal argumentation, or whether due to deficiencies in reasoning it requires correction or annulment through appellate review.
