Abstract: Abstract: This research analyzes the reasoning behind judgments issued by trial-level judges in Ecuador, focusing on the ruling in the mutual-consent divorce case No. 1120320147301, heard at the Judicial Unit for Family, Women, Children, and Adolescents. The general objective was to determine whether this judicial decision meets constitutional and jurisprudential standards regarding the reasoning of judgments. The study employed a qualitative approach, utilizing analytical, legal, and documentary methods. Research techniques included a literature review and content analysis, using a "reasoning sufficiency" questionnaire and a "correct reasoning" questionnaire as instruments. The results showed that the judgment contains sufficient factual and legal grounds to support the decision, although there are limitations regarding the depth of the legal argumentation. It is concluded that the reasoning only partially meets the required constitutional standards; therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the substantiation of judicial rulings to better guarantee due process and effective judicial protection.
