| Abstract: | Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate driving styles, mental health, and alcohol consumption among motor vehicle drivers in the central area of Cuenca, Azuay Province, Ecuador, during 2025. A quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional research design was employed. The sample consisted of 73 drivers who completed the Multidimensional Driving Style Inventory (MDSI), the Goldberg General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28), and the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT). The findings revealed that the cautious driving style was the most prevalent, followed by the reckless driving style. Regarding mental health, social dysfunction obtained the highest mean score among the assessed dimensions. Concerning alcohol consumption, most participants were classified as abstinent or at low risk. The study concludes that the majority of the evaluated drivers exhibited responsible and safe driving behaviors. However, the presence of risk-related driving behaviors and mental health indicators highlights the need to strengthen preventive strategies aimed at promoting road safety and drivers' well-being. |
