| Abstract: | Abstract:This research analyzed the constitutional interpretation of the right to life in relation to assisted dying within the Ecuadorian legal system, based on criteria developed by the Constitutional Court, with a focus on Judgment No. 67-23-IN/24. The objective was to critically analyze the reasoning set forth by the Constitutional Court in that judgment, to gather and examine other rulings addressing personal autonomy and the right to life, and to compare them with Judgment No. 67-23-IN/24. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive scope, utilizing the dogmatic-legal method. The results demonstrated that the right to life is not absolute; rather, it must be interpreted systematically alongside other fundamental rights, allowing for the harmonization of its protection with personal autonomy in exceptional circumstances. It was concluded that Judgment No. 67-23-IN/24 establishes a precedent that redefines constitutional interpretation. |
