Abstract: Abstract: This research, titled The Reasoning in Judgments Issued by First-Instance Judges in Ecuador, aims to analyze and evaluate the correctness and sufficiency of the reasoning in judicial decisions by examining a judgment issued by the Civil Judicial Unit of the Tulcán Canton. The study employed an analytical and qualitative methodology, utilizing a judgment-reasoning analysis method that allowed the ruling to be broken down into its essential elements to assess the sufficiency of the arguments. The sample consisted of an executive judgment regarding a bill of exchange. Techniques such as close reading, outlining, doctrinal and comparative legal analysis, and the use of the SATJE system were employed to gather information. The instruments used were questionnaires assessing standards of sufficiency and correct reasoning, which made it possible to determine the absence of normative or factual deficiencies in the reasoning. The results demonstrated that the analyzed judgment contains complete, coherent, and legally grounded reasoning, thereby guaranteeing due process, legal certainty, and effective judicial protection principles that are essential to the contemporary Ecuadorian judicial system.
